Paper bag puppets. Nothing simpler. Well I tried to but failed. The rig to get them to flap their mouths was complicated, getting the big puppets hands to stay in the bags was complicated... At least painting them was a lot of fun.
I was asked how come the art for the bag girls looks so good when Sokka, being the "creator" of at least five of them, is supposed to have bad art skills. All I can say was I missed that mark  I was concentrating so hard at making Suki's makeup look accurate that once I stopped to see hot I had done, it looked too good to go bad and make it crummy. So the rest of them followed suit in style.Who knows? Maybe Sokka commissioned them from a Devaintartist.  They don't look too bad in this picture but I can tell you, they all took a major beating (literally) and I'm amazed they aren't more torn up then they are. |
